Speed Checks - Bingley Rural

Dear Resident,

Following concerns raised in the Bingley Rural meeting regarding speeding, we took the Pro Laser out in to Bingley Rural on 01/11/2025. Between attending ASB calls in Shipley and Bingley we had some positive results.

In total we issued 5 traffic offence reports. 4 x Excess Speed. 1 x No MOT. 1 x Arrest for OPL. 1 x Fail to Stop.

A vehicle was stopped on Bingley Main Street showing no MOT for over 6 weeks. TOR issued.

We headed over to Laneside / Haworth Road at Wilsden in the 30mph zone for circa 20 mins. No TORs issued at this location.

We then moved down the road to the 20 MPH zone opposite the Station Pub in Harecroft and issued x 1 TOR at 28 mph in the 20.

In Cullingworth we parked up on Haworth Road, in the 30mph zone, the road that leads up to The Flappit. Here we had a vehicle travelling well in excess of the speed limit. The driver braked when he saw us and the Pro Laser caught him at 53 slowing down. We returned to the same location and shortly after issued a TOR for 37 MPH in the 30 limit.

We then moved on to Harden Road at Harden, opposite the cricket club. 2 x TORs issued for excess speed. The first recorded at 42MPH in the 30MPH limit. The second recorded at 48MPH in the 30MPH limit. This driver was already on 9 points and has now been summoned to attend court. However he also smelt of intoxicants. He blew 48 on the road side breath test and was arrested for OPL.
